The incentive program, originally introduced to encourage settlement in our community by offering tax breaks for the purchase and occupation of new and existing homes and businesses, has been drastically changed effective January 1, 2012. Following is a summary of the key features of the new program:

• Incentives will be offered for only new dwellings, new mobile homes, new modular homes and new RTMs.
• The recipient of the incentive must be a registered owner of the dwelling and full-time resident.
• Total assessed value of the dwelling plus land must be $75,000 or more.
• Recipient will be rebated 50% of the total Town of Rossburn Taxes (excluding school taxes) for three years.
• Incentives for existing homes are no longer available.

The goal of this new program is to encourage new development to increase our tax base. Business incentives are still being considered. Complete details available at the Town Office.

The remainder of any existing signed agreements will be honoured. Any person(s) who would have qualified under the previous incentive program, but has not yet submitted an application, will qualify under the previous program provided:

1. That Council is provided with proof that the legal possession date was prior to January 1, 2012
2. That all other terms and conditions of the previous agreement are met, and
3. That completed incentive application is received by the town prior to February 1, 2012.
