ROSSBURN MEMORY GARDEN UPDATE

Date: August / 30 / 2010
As the end of summer approaches, the Rossburn Garden Club will soon be completing another busy season. Although the summer had a slow start with a fair amount of rain, the flowers and plants in the Rossburn Memory Park have provided a colourful display and kept the club busy with weeding, deadheading, and slug slaying. Many thanks goes out to Joan Belbas for contributing many of the annuals in the park and the perennials on the waterfall.

Rossburn Early Learners Inc.— Providing Quality Early Childhood Education in Rossburn

Date: August / 30 / 2010
The Little Cub’s Den Daycare opened in Rossburn in August of 2008. In July of 2009, the daycare amalgamated with the Rossburn Nursery School and became Rossburn Early Learners, Inc. This allowed for the combining of the two boards for the purposes of staffing, fundraising, and sharing of resources, along with providing other benefits to both organizations. This newly-amalgamated board has been working very hard this year to bring Rossburn the best in early childhood education.

Date: August / 30 / 2010
I always thought that this is the way it should be, as we call such a gorgeous spot our home, but I have to say even I was astonished by the amount of inquiries I have received since I started to help in Rossburn with immigration and settlement services a little over a year ago.

BEST WISHES ROSSBURN!

Seeking Survivors to share their stories on the topic of the financial hardship of cancer in Canada

Date: August / 09 / 2010
For many people diagnosed with cancer, the financial burden that comes with it is an unwelcome but true reality. The financial burden can be the result of out-of pocket costs for transportation, accommodation, drugs or medical devices not covered by public or private insurance. At times, it is family members or friends that experience a loss of income because of the costs associated with caring for a relative or friend with cancer.

The Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division and Canadian Cancer Action Network are partnering to prepare a plan that will advocate for people with cancer and their families who experience financial difficulties as a result of their diagnosis.

Donation Request Policy.

Date: August / 09 / 2010
Please be advised that due to the high number of donations being requested from local businesses and groups near or on the day of event, or without proper explanation, the Rossburn Chamber of Commerce members voted to begin implementing a standard Donation Request Policy. Each business/service group will now require a donation request form to be filled out and submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to an event. Forms will be available with most chamber members.
